Guardian Web Application V3.57.0

Here's what's included in V3.57.0 of the Guardian web application as part of the July 2025 quarterly release.

New Features

The following new feature is included within this release of the Guardian web application.

Search for Environments and Connection Manager Groups

We have made improvements to the Monitored tab (Inventory > Monitored) by adding a new search bar to the Environments and Connection Manager Groups drop-down menus. Previously, the search bar was only available to use within the Node Groups drop-down menu (on the Monitored tab). Now, you can use the search bar functionality to look for nodes and configuration items stored within the respective environment or Connection Manager group.

Tip: For more information on using different types of search functionality in Guardian, see Search Monitored Nodes.

Other Enhancements

The following additional enhancement is included within this release of the Guardian web application.

Data Retention Configuration Changes

We have made some updates to the way in which Guardian handles data retention. As part of this release, we have introduced automatic cleanup of historical data to improve disk space.

Tip: The rules of the automatic cleanup can be changed upon request, contact your Guardian representative for more information.

Fixed Issues

The following issues have been fixed within this release of the Guardian web application.

GWB-6219 – Enable Secondary Password field not Displaying when Adding Node
Affects Versions: V3.56.0 Fix Version: V3.57.0
Problem:

When adding a 'Cisco' or 'Pluggable' node type, if the credentials feature was disabled, the Enable Secondary Password field was not being displayed as expected.

Tip: For more information on credentials, see Credentials.

Solution:

We have added the Enable Secondary Password field to the page that is displayed when adding a 'Cisco' or 'Pluggable' node. Now, when adding a 'Cisco' or 'Pluggable' node, the Secondary Password field is displayed as expected.

GWB-6232 – Unable to Add Custom Policies to Node Groups
Affects Versions: V3.21.0 (and later) Fix Version: V3.57.0
Problem:

In a node group with no prior policies applied, add a policy to the group by replicating the following steps:

  1. Click the Settings button (Settings button as shown in the Guardian user interface.) for the required node group, then select Policies.

  2. Click the Add Policy to Group button. The Select policies dialog is displayed.

No custom policies are available to select within the Select policies dialog. Only public policies are available to add to the selected node group.

Tip: For more information on policies, see Policies.

Solution:

This was the result of incorrect logic in Guardian causing custom policies not to be displayed within the Select policies dialog, if certain parameters were met. This issue has now been fixed. When adding a policy to a node group with no prior policies applied, all available custom policies are displayed within the Select policies dialog as expected, alongside all available public policies.

Linux Agent V5.45.1

Here's what's included in V5.45.1 of the Linux Agent as part of the July 2025 quarterly release.

New Features

There are no new features included within this release of the Linux Agent.

Other Enhancements

The following enhancements are included within this release of the Linux Agent.

Improved Backend Stability

This enhancement improves backend stability by synchronizing Goroutines and refining error handling within the Linux Agent. Specifically, it addresses scenarios where Connection Manager tasks fail, ensuring cleaner handling and better system resilience.

Enhanced F5 Error Reporting via File-Based Testing

This work addresses a long-standing issue with F5 devices where parse errors were hard to trace. Errors referenced line numbers within individual data sections, but the full report combined all sections—making it unclear where the error occurred.

To solve this, we arranged for the configuration content of the section that was being processed to be included in the error information only. In addition, as an internal development tool, a new file medium type was introduced. It simulates real device behavior using recorded command/response files, allowing the full F5 scan and error reporting logic to run unmodified. This enables accurate testing and debugging without needing a live device.

Now, when a parse error occurs, only the relevant section is included in the error report—making it much easier to identify and resolve issues.

Fixed Issues

No issues have been fixed in this release of the Linux Agent.

Windows Agent V5.21.1

Here's what's included in V5.21.1 of the Windows Agent as part of the July 2025 quarterly release.

New Features

There are no new features included within this release of the Windows Agent.

Other Enhancements

The following enhancement is included within this release of the Windows Agent.

Support for Additional Configuration Values in Unattended Installations

A new argument --additional_config_values has been introduced for unattended (command line) installations of the Windows Agent. This allows users to pass a string of comma-separated key-value pairs (e.g., key1:value1, key2:value2) during installation. These values will be automatically saved to the configuration file, streamlining setup and customization.

Note: For more information, see Windows Connection Manager – Command Line Installation.

Fixed Issues

No issues have been fixed in this release of the Windows Agent.
